TREASURY OF WISDOM – PRESERVING THE TEACHINGS
Help us to preserve the teachings by sponsoring the digitising of old audio and videotapes containing unique and precious recordings of great masters who taught in the West
Ever since Buddhism made its way to the West in the seventies, students around the world have recorded teachings of many masters such as Dudjom Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche and Sogyal Rinpoche.
These precious teachings were recorded on audio and videotapes which are naturally subject to decline. So, to keep these delicate recordings safe was a big challenge.
In order to preserve this spiritual legacy, Rigpa started digitising these tapes in 2004 to make sure the recordings were secured long into the future. A lot of teachings have been preserved since then. In Losar 2018 we launched this project to digitise the remaining tapes. Thanks to your generosity we are half-way there, but there are still 6,500 hours of teachings waiting to be saved.
There is a tremendous importance and urgency to complete this task as soon as possible as many of these unique tapes are in severe jeopardy and some may even be beyond repair.
