CONTEXT
Lerab Ling is a Tibetan Buddhist retreat centre located in a protected mountain landscape about an hour from Montpellier in the south of France. It is home to a traditional Buddhist temple.
We welcome anyone who wishes to visit the Lerab Ling site, explore meditation, take a break from their daily life, and experience the culture, art and spiritual tradition of Tibet. It is also a place for all Buddhist practitioners, regardless of their school or tradition of wisdom, allowing them to discover or deepen their practice and study through longer programmes or retreats.
Lerab Ling is the main retreat centre of Rigpa, an international community of centres and groups around the world, offering courses and programmes, a complete path of Buddhist study and practice.
We are looking for our Marketing & Communications Lead to help spread the word about this wisdom tradition! You will be the voice and heart of our mission, responsible for:
- Making our wonderful mission visible to new audiences.
- Promoting our activities (retreats, courses, events) with authenticity and creativity.
- Leading and uniting our beautiful international community, so that it grows in kindness.
Your mission? An exciting balance between strategy (25%) and communication creation (75%): defining our direction, while being on the ground creating inspiring content, cultivating relationships and bringing meaningful projects to life.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategy and Analysis (25% Marketing)
Objective: To lead strategic thinking and optimise Lerab Ling’s offering.
Monitoring and analysis:
- Monitor the sector (other spiritual centres, wellness tourism, trends in digital communication).
- Analyse event data (questionnaires, participation rates, qualitative feedback) and propose corrective measures.
- Study feedback from the field to identify opportunities and refine targeting.
Marketing strategy:
- Develop an annual marketing plan (objectives, targets, channels, budget) in line with Lerab Ling’s mission.
- Define a strategy for the public offering: adapt programmes to reach a wider audience (beginners, tourists, experienced practitioners).
- Know how to design a marketing and communication strategy using state-of-the-art and effective methods.
Optimisation :
- Ensure the application of best practices in marketing (promotional texts, social networks, website).
- Monitor (engagement rates, conversions) and adjust actions.
- Participate in meetings (take minutes).
2. Communication and Public Relations (75%)
Objective: Strengthen the image of Ĺrab Ling and unite its audiences.
Communication plan:
- Define the strategic priorities of the communication plan (events, retreats, news).
- Develop an editorial calendar (website, social media, newsletters) and an editorial plan (value-added content: articles, testimonials, spiritual resources).
- Oversee the creation of materials (posters, flyers, videos, press releases) and supervise their distribution.
Project and team management:
- Coordinate projects and liaise with teams (programme, visitor centre, etc.).
- Supervise a team and be the main point of contact for stakeholders.
- Monitor the budget allocated to communication and marketing activities.
Content and partnerships:
- Identify and collaborate with value-added content producers (teachers, monks, experts) to enrich the offering.
- Ensure consistency in the graphic charter and messages across all media.
Public relations management:
- Manage relations with the press (journalists, filmmakers, influencers) and organise press conferences or visits.
- Represent Lerab Ling at events (trade fairs, partnerships, interfaith meetings).
- Facilitate the online community (social networks, forums) and offline community (events, retreats).
2.1 Additional activities
Impact management:
- Establish perception indicators (satisfaction surveys, awareness barometer).
- Evaluate the impact of actions and suggest improvements.
Logistics:
- Distribution of materials (flyers, posters) and event signage.
Representation:
- Participate in external events to promote Lerab Ling (trade shows, forums).
DESIRED PROFILE
Key skills:
- Experience in 360° communication (word-of-mouth, digital, print, press relations, events) and strategic marketing.
- Proficiency in digital tools (WordPress, MailChimp, Social Media, Google Analytics, Google Suite, Meta Business) and writing techniques.
- Ability to analyse data and manage projects.
- Interest in spiritual matters and understanding of the specific communication needs of a charitable organisation with varied functions and audiences.
Languages:
- French: Level C1 (perfect command, advanced expression and comprehension).
- English: Level B2 (ability to communicate with ease, fluent writing and comprehension).
Personal qualities:
- Initiative, rigour and interpersonal skills, proactive.
- Autonomy and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Adaptability and open-mindedness (varied audiences, spiritual issues).
CONDITIONS AND BENEFITS
Conditions:
- Type of contract: Fixed-term contract, with the possibility of becoming permanent.
- Working hours: Full-time (or part-time depending on profile).
- Location: Lerab Ling (Southern France).
- Salary starting at: €21,000 gross per annum (depending on experience and profile).

Relevant qualifications: Minimum 3 years of higher education in Marketing & Communication
TO CONCLUDE
Professional experience: Previous experience in 360° communication (word-of-mouth, digital, print, press relations, events) and/or strategic marketing will be highly valued. Candidates with experience in the associative, spiritual or cultural sector are particularly encouraged to apply.
Required experience: 5 years’ experience.
