Javier Torales started practising meditation in 2001. He moved to Barcelona in 2003 to pursue postgraduate studies in mathematics. Here he met Sogyal Rinpoche and started to engage more deeply in Buddhist study and practice. From 2006 to 2009, he participated in a Three-year retreat in Lerab Ling, in southern France. He has served Rinpoche as a translator during live events in Spain, Mexico and France, and has translated hundreds of hours of his teachings, and those of many other masters, for Rigpa’s study programmes. During retreats in Lerab Ling, Spain, and online, Javier helps as an instructor, mainly in the areas of meditation and ngöndro. In recent years, Javier has supported ‘Bodhi’, an initiative to bring the practices of meditation and compassion to a wider audience.
