Buddha and Jesus: Debate and Dialogue

Buddha and Jesus: Debate and Dialogue

With Philippe Cornu

These three days over Christian Easter are intended as a time of sharing around two of humanity’s greatest spiritual traditions, Buddhism and Christianity. Between Christians and Buddhists there is often mutual curiosity and respect, but also misunderstanding. To defuse misconceptions and prejudices, and to open a genuine dialogue in a spirit of serenity, Philippe Cornu, author of Bouddha et Jésus, le débat et le dialogue (Le Cerf, 2026), will explore the great texts of both religions to show both what they share and where they differ. These differences stem in particular from the cultural and philosophical differences between the Asian world and the West. Understanding them makes it possible to avoid caricatures and preconceived ideas, to open the way to an informed dialogue, and to access more intimate spiritual experiences. This is the path towards rediscovering greater wisdom, ethics and altruistic love.
