OVERVIEW
The Lerab Ling temple façade requires urgent restoration. A specialized company, supervised by the project architect, will handle the restoration of the exterior walls. Meanwhile, the painting of decorative facings, Tibetan motifs, and internal walls will be entrusted to Bhutanese artists and experienced painters from the Sangha. The Temple Painting Project Manager will oversee this aspect of the project, serving as the primary coordinator between the team completing the restoration elements and the artistic team, which includes both Tibetan and Sangha painters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the painting of decorative and Tibetan art for the Lerab Ling temple.
- Assist in recruiting, coordinating, and managing a team of artists and Sangha painters, ensuring compliance with safety standards and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Plan the project, including establishing a timeline, identifying necessary resources, setting a budget, and defining key milestones.
- Collaborate with experts to select appropriate materials and paints, ensuring durable, high-quality results.
- Ensure smooth coordination and timely completion of each section of the temple, in alignment with milestones set by the project architect and company carrying out the restoration work.
- Maintain regular communication with relevant departments (fundraising, finance, architect’s site team, etc.), and provide consistent updates and reports to the Building Supervisory Group at Lerab Ling.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Fluency in French and English
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Expertise in painting, building, and construction
