A Datun is an in-depth group meditation retreat, offering an ideal environment to discover and strengthen an awareness of our own fundamental being through the simple but powerful method of shamatha-vipashyana meditation, which can be translated as calm abiding and clear seeing meditation.
Take a break from the high-speed pace of everyday life and enjoy the peaceful retreat atmosphere of Lerab Ling. This retreat is a golden opportunity to work with our mind in a kind and loving way.
Shamatha-vipashyana is the core of all Buddhist meditation practices and the main source for mindfulness and awareness meditation. By bringing the mind back from whatever distracts it, the simplicity of mindfulness slowly calms the mind, awakening clarity.
During this retreat, the practice of mindfulness is extended beyond sitting on a meditation cushion. Every aspect of daily life becomes part of a wakeful discipline of discovering the present moment and our own hearts and minds. One-on-one meditation instruction and dharma talks by senior teachers are offered on a regular basis.
